Congress prods govt for funds in budget

Hyderabad: Kalwakurthy Congress MLA Ch Vamshichand Reddy has demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao allocate Rs.1,771.83 crore in the ensuing budget and complete the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project expeditiously.

Speaking to the media at Assembly Media Hall here on Saturday, Vamshichand demanded that the State government allocate 120 tmcft of water for irrigation (for 12 lakh acre) purpose, 10 tmcft for drinking purpose and 5 tmcft for the needs of industries and the total of 135 tmcft of water to Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation project.

Then only the needs of Old Palamuru district will be fulfilled, he said and demanded that the government issue a new G.O. amending the existing G.O.
He also demanded that the government provide 34 tmcft of water to Dindi project and 40 tmcft for drinking water to Hyderabad and total of 75 tmcft water directly from the Srisailam instead of providing water from Palamuru.

He said the Chief Minister has given assurance in the Assembly in this regard but the government was issuing G.Os contrary to his statements. This shows his sincerity towards the projects located in Palamuru district, the MLA rued.

He asked the Chief Minister to allocate the required funds to the projects and complete them and provide water 100 per cent ayacut as assured in the Assembly.
