Red sanders logs worth ` 6 cr seized, 13 held
Tirupati: Red sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) police seized Rs 6 crore worth of 193 red sanders logs in three various incidents. Acting on a tipoff, the police arrested nine smugglers on Saturday in Tirupati and Kamalapuram (Kadapa district).

The logs weighing over five tonnes is expected to fetch crores in international market making it one of the major hauls of the taskforce. In the first incident, RSASTF Police arrested one key RS Smuggler E Chandran hailing from Gummadipoondi town in Tiruvalluru District.
In the second incident police nabbed K Perumal of Vellore District, Tamil Nadu. Two taskforce cops also caught seven smugglers in a RTC bus with the help of co passengers near Kamalapuram, Kadapa district.
DSP Sridhar Rao said that police are trying to stop the smugglers before entering into the forest, in view of that armed police teams were deployed in various places like Panpakam, Mamandru, Krishnapuram, Mangalam, Karakambadi and Bakrapet, Kalyanidam areas, which are the entry points for Seshachalam forest.
