Nellore: Suspicious death of a RTI activist took a sudden twist with doubts raised over the role of some local TDP leaders, who threatened the deceased with dire consequences. They reportedly warned the activist Veerabhadraiah sometime ago and he reportedly informed about possible attacks him as he had lodged complaints on irregularities in the local Red Cross Society. Sources said their family members had not lodged any complaint and Veerabhadraiah reportedly informed to the family members them that he had received threat from some persons for questioning about irregularities in the Red Cross Society.

According to sources, Putta Veerbhadraiah had taken up several agitations on the irregularities of Indian Red Cross Society and lodged a complaint with District Collector R Mutyala Raju to probe the irregularities in the district unit and also the Government Cancer Hospital maintained by the society. Some of the society members of the district unit reportedly expressed anger over Veerabhadraiah for lodging a complaint with the Collector as they had allegedly involved in the irregularities and reported to the local political leaders on the issue.

Source in the Government Railway Police said they had found a letter in the pocket of Veerabhadraiah. In the letter, the deceased thanked all those people, who have supported him. “We have not received post-mortem report for handing over the case to local police in case of any doubts over the death of the RTI activist,” he said.
