Chinturu (East Godavari): A tribal school girl student in Kansuluru Ashram School died of malaria fever in Chintur mandal of the district on Monday. The deceased Podium Sankuramma (13) who was studying class VII in Kansuluru Ashram school had been suffering from fever from last Sunday.

As no teacher was available to shift her to the hospital, fever went on to persist up to Thursday. Viplava Kumar, a local resident, on the same night took the girl on his bike with the help of hostel warden to Chinturu hospital.

Doctors after giving her first aid to Sankuramma advised hostel warden to shift her to Bhadrachalam area hospital on Sunday night. The girl succumbed to fever on Monday while being shifted to Bhadrachalam. During his visit to Ashram school, ITDA Project Officer G Chinna Babu understood that Sankuramma had been suffering from fever since last Thursday and all teachers were absent on Sunday.

Project Officer Chinna Babu said that he suspended both Ashram School Headmaster K Venkateswara Rao and Deputy Warden K Balakrishna for dereliction in their students and instructed police to register criminal cases against them.

He made it clear that allowance pay would be recovered from teachers who have not been camping at Kansuluru hostel school for the last six months.
