‘Policemen should rise to meet people’s expectations’
Chittoor: Anantapur Range DIG J Prabhakara Rao stated that the police personnel role is crucial in the present day society and should be accountable to people.

He gave a call to policemen to meet the expectations of the public. The DIG visited the District Police Office (DPO) here on Tuesday and inspected the crime records. Speaking to the media, Prabhakara Rao asked the police personnel to instill confidence among the neglected sections of the society.
“The prime duty of the policemen is to control crime rate with better policing,” he added. The DIG advised cops to implement appropriate technologies to regulate traffic in cities and towns and to tackle cyber crimes.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) G Srinivas explained the latest developments in the Community Police Officers (CPOs) project. He stated that instructions were given to the DSPs and CIs concerned to strengthen CPOs project as it is being replicated in the entire State.
The SP said that the district police have been taking measures to curb the red sanders smuggling in the district.
He mentioned that the department has proposed to use the services of CPOs in a big way on par with police personnel. Additional SP Abhishek Mohanty was also present.
