Tirupati: Former Congress MP Dr Chintha Mohan reiterated his demand for handing over the Pregnant Women Hospital (PWH) building which is
now with SVIMS immediately to Government Maternity Hospital here.

In a press release here on Friday, Mohan said that he will be forced to take up peaceful agitation if the SVIMS and State government failed to
hand over the PWH building to maternity hospital by March 10.

Responding to his complaint against the handing over of the PWH building to SVIMS, he said that the State government was forced to look into
the issue and cited the copy of the letter he received from Principal Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah, who requested Director of Medical
Education to furnish the copy of the minutes of the meeting held on November last year on the subject, for further action. He also released the
copies of Principal Secretary’s letter to DME to the media.

The senior Congress leader was instrumental for sanctioning of PWH to pilgrim city. The building was inaugurated three years back and shelved
later. He has been fighting against the State government for handing over the building constructed with an outlay of Rs 77 crore with the NRHM
funds to SVIMS.
