Visakhapatnam: India is on the verge of digital revolution with IT sector playing a vital role in the Indian economy, observed Chairman and Managing Director of Vizag Steel Plant P Madhusudan. He further stated that the Digital India contributes knowledgeable economy and digitally empowered society with good governance. Thus, the digital revolution plays a key role in improving work efficiency, he pointed out.

He was addressing a meeting after inaugurating a two-day international conference on ‘Digital India in Global IT Spectrum’ organised by the Computer Society of India (CSI) in association with the Vizag Steel Plant here on Friday. Madhusudan disclosed that the IT sector contributes 20 per cent of country’s merchandised exports and by 2025, 300 million people could get access to various banking services. He stated that even the school performance could be improved through e-Administration, digital identity based attendance system, online teacher certification and training by using digital technologies.

IT Adviser to the Government of AP J A Chowdhary said that digital technology is playing a major role in transforming business and industry enhancing transparency to a greater extent. He called upon the youth to develop technologies and focus on Start-Ups with good digital knowledge to survive in the competitive world. “Unless people move to the digital transformation, there is no future and everything is automated as phenomenal revolution is taking place in the digital technology”, he added.

Steel Plant Director (Operations) D N Rao and who is also Chairman of local Chapter of CSI, said that India has witnessed a phenomenal growth in the IT which has been contributing largely to increase transparency and good governance. Former Scientific Secretary to Government of India Prof S V Raghavan delivered a key-note address on digital life, digital expectations and digital infrastructure.
