Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Rajaka Sangala Aikya Vedika is up in arms seeking inclusion of their community in SCs and it has demanded an MLC seat.
Members of the Ikyavedika will take part in a 48-hour relay hunger strike beginning on February 27 in the city on its demands.

Ikyavedika president Pathapati Anjibabu also asserted that they were not against for inclusion of Kapus in the BC category as it was the promise made by the Telugu Desam Party in the last elections.

The government also promised inclusion of Rajakas in SCs and the matter had been included in Governor’s speech, he recalled.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Anjibabu said the Chief Minister should stand on his promises that were made during elections on reservations.

“Two-and-half years have already passed but the government did not take steps to realise its promise on SC reservations to Rajaka community though it has been included in its election manifesto,” he said.

He also said Rajka community was not given at least a post of MLA or MLC despite having 45 lakh population in the State. “We are not able to get the appointment of the Chief Minister due to lack of representation in the legislative bodies.

Why the government did not consider Rajakas for MLC quota,” he asked.
Stating that they would not oppose BC reservations to Kapu community, Anjibabu said our contention was inclusion of Rajakas into SC category only as the Chief Minister had repeatedly promised to extend the SC status.

He also said that Chandrababu Naidu had constituted a corporation for the Kapus and allocated Rs 1,000 crore for their welfare, ignoring the promise that he had given to the Rajaka community.

He demanded that the government create a corporation for the washermen and allocate Rs 1,000 crore for them too.

He further said that the government had allocated Rs 30 crore for the community through the federation but had spent just Rs 3 crore during
the year.
