Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh would be on the path of sustainable development if it achieves over 12 per cent growth for 15 consecutive years, said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday. The Chief Minister said the state started its progress from zero level achieving good progress in all spheres the energy, industry, education, agriculture and other sectors in the last two-and-a-half years. Naidu addressed media conference after the successful inauguration of the Assembly budget session in the new Assembly building at Velagapudi.

Stating that the temporary Assembly helps to improve administration of the state government, the Chief Minister recalled that government officials suffered many hardships in shuffling between Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad after the bifurcation of the state. “The Assembly and the Secretariat will boost the confidence of the staff and the people of AP,” he said.

Naidu thanked the farmers who offered 32,500 acres for capital and added that the credit for construction of capital goes to farmers as the land pooling introduced by the AP government had become a role model in the country.

Referring to irrigation projects, the Chief Minister said that Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme was completed in a record time and the state emerged as first in India in linking of rivers. He noted that the state is facing a peculiar problem of coastal districts being prone to cyclones and Rayalaseema districts facing severe drought conditions.

He said the surplus Godavari water was distributed to Rayalaseema region to save standing crops and reiterated that priority would be given for development of all the regions in the state. Referring to caste issues in the state, Naidu assured that the government would do justice to all castes and made it clear injustice would not be done to backward classes at any cost.

He said Kapu and Brahmin corporations were formed to protect the interests of economically poor sections of the upper castes. Saying that the state was ahead in cashless transactions, he said the government was committed to protect the interests of farmers, weavers and Dwacra groups.

He stressed the need for legal sanctity for Special Economic Package announced by the Centre to the state in lieu of Special Category Status. Referring to cashless transactions, the CM said the AP government insists on cashless transactions and digital economy.
