Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday attended the International Women's Day programme at Vijayawada, organised by Andhra Pradesh (AP) Women and Child Development department.
Speaking at the event, Chandrababu urged women to become financially independent which would in turn earn them respect.
The Chief Minister also encouraged girls to learn martial arts as it will given them self-confidence and added that men would be afraid to approach him instead.
He also announced the free medical check up scheme for women, where the women above 30 years of age can undergo diagnostic tests for various kinds of diseases.
