Kadapa: Tension prevailed in Porumalilla town on Wednesday with YSRC party functionaries blocking the roads to prevent police from thwarting the hunger strike launched by Kadapa Member of Parliament, Avinash Reddy.

However, Mydukuru DSP J Srinivasulu , Porumamilla CI Padmanabha , SI Peddaobanna and others rushed to the spot and foiled the hunger strike.

Later, they shifted the agitators to the Mydukuru police station. Avinash Reddy was on a fast in protest against the failure of the police to locate the kidnapped son of a YSRC party worker.

The victim, Mukthad Hussain, who was kidnapped in a vehicle by unidentified persons on Sunday, is yet to be traced. Police chased the vehicle following a tip-off by the locals and attempted to corner them at Annampalle village but the culprits managed to drive away.
