Visakhapatnam: Cyber crime now a days, is the fast growing mode of crime, which could be contained by bringing awareness among the practicing lawyers and litigant public, according to Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice G Rohini.

Speaking at a seminar on cyber crime organised by Federation of Women Lawyers here on Saturday, Justice Rohini said that cyber crime is of several forms including harassment, intimidation, sending obscene messages, hacking information, blackmailing, credit card-related offences and terrorism.

“Legal profession is very challenging and thus many young women are coming forward to prove their capabilities on par with men. There is a misconception in the Indian society that women are fit for teaching and nursing professions only,” she lamented.

Admitting that it is very difficult to balance work and life, she said majority of women are not flourishing in the legal profession due to financial issues, lack of family support and motivation.

Complimenting the Federation of Women Lawyers for conducting the seminar, Justice Rohini called upon the federation to identify the teething problems among women advocates so as to nurture them with skills.

Justice Durgaprasada Rao, High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Telangana and AP said that women were being made scapegoats in majority of the cyber crime cases.

Referring to various forms of cyber crime including morphology, tampering physical and intellectual property, he lamented that the ‘privacy’ of women was being affected.
