Health Minister Dr Kamineni Srinivas on Tuesday said that the Central Government has agreed to increase 380 medical seats in the seven government medical colleges of Andhra Pradesh for medical clinical courses on Tuesday. 

​Vijayawada: Health Minister Dr Kamineni Srinivas on Tuesday said that the Central Government has agreed to increase 380 medical seats in the seven government medical colleges of Andhra Pradesh for medical clinical courses on Tuesday.

Kamineni met Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and others on Tuesday. In all there 394 MBBS seats in seven government colleges now.

The Union Health Minister would decide on reducing the NEET PG qualifying marks for the students of Andhra Pradesh within a week. There are 4,500 MBBS seats and 1,300 dental seats in AP, but there are only two NEET exam centres.

The state government had requested the Centre to increase the number of NEET exam centres in Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Tirupati and Kurnool. The government had started the process for collection of applications for NEET, the Minister said.

People suffering from kidney problems in Uddanam village will get complete medical care. Already 15 medical teams have treated 1 lakh nephrology patients. The government is planning for a permanent solution for the people of Uddana village, he said.

Dr Kamineni Srinivas said that he along with TG Venkatesh met Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan and discussed for reinstating Vigneshwaram power plant.
