In a shocking incident, two underground drainage workers, K Rambabu (53) and P Venkateswara Rao (48), whom the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) engaged for work in an underground drainage line (UGD) died of suffocation at Bhavanipuram Housing Board Colony here on Wednesday.
Vijayawada: In a shocking incident, two underground drainage workers, K Rambabu (53) and P Venkateswara Rao (48), whom the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) engaged for work in an underground drainage line (UGD) died of suffocation at Bhavanipuram Housing Board Colony here on Wednesday.
According to Bhavanipuram police, Rambabu went into UGD to clear silt for free flow of drainage water and died of suffocation. His colleague P Venkateswara Rao entered the UGD to bring back Rambabu, but he also died of suffocation. Another drainage worker Durga Rao, who was present at the site, informed the VMC officials about the incident.
