Guntur: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday launched 'Arogya Raksha' scheme at a meeting held at Gollapadu village under Muppalla mandal of Guntur district.

Speaking on this occasion, he said the aim of the government is to provide health security to all. He said that under the scheme, the white card holders will get Rs 2.5 lakh worth free medical treatment.

Those who do not possess the white cards should pay Rs 1200 premium to get themselves covered under the health insurance scheme. He said one can avail the facility by making payment of Rs 100 per month.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated Safe Pharmacy company at Gollapadu village. He said the State government is providing improved medical facilities in all the government hospitals. He called upon the people to utilise the facilities. He pointed out that the government has already introduced Tallibidda Express. The Chief Minister stressed the need to keep the surroundings clean to promote hygiene.

He laid emphasis on construction of toilets. He said that the government will provide financial assistance of Rs 15,000 for construction of toilets and urged the women to avail the facility provided by the government.

The Chief Minister said the government will soon declare Guntur as open defecation free district. He pointed out that State Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao took up construction of toilets as a movement and constructed record number toilets in his Assembly constituency.

Naidu said that the government will construct 2 lakh houses in the next two years under Housing for All scheme. He further said that the government has allotted Rs 840 crore for minorities’ welfare in the Budget.

Later, the Chief Minister interacted with the girls in the Kasturba Girls High School and asked whether they were using the toilets or not. He enquired about facilities in the high school. He explained steps being taken by the government for construction of toilets in the high school and improving other facilities.

Naidu expressed his gratitude to farmers who gave away their lands for capital construction. He said the farmers were benefitted through implementation of the land pooling scheme. Stating that he had developed the Hitec City in Hyderabad, he vowed to build a world-class capital Amaravati. He sought people’s cooperation in the construction of the new capital for the State.

The Chief Minister pointed out that funds were allocated for uplift of weaker sections and those who were economically backward among the upper castes.

Naidu laid the foundation stone for the construction of Gururkula Pathasala for boys at a cost of Rs 18 crore. He also set the stone for the construction of minority girls hostel building at a cost of Rs 3.91 crore.

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Sujana Chowdary, State Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao, MLAs Yarapathineni Srinivas, Alapati Rajendra Prasad and D Narendra were among those who were present.
