Vijayawada: The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Industries (FAPI) president, B V Rama Rao, on Wednesday alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu failed to attract industries in Andhra Pradesh through the partnership summits.

He opined that the ruling party leaders should fight with Union government for granting Special Category Status (SCS) to AP for development of industry. Under Naidu's rule, the industries were getting a raw deal and being watered down.

Addressing the mediapersons at Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry office here, he said that the CM had no knowledge over development of industries in AP and the State government failed to appoint Industries Minister, Power Minister and Commissioner of Industry so far.

“Chandrababu Naidu gave promotions to junior officers in place of seniors in industry department and all District Collectors used services of district industrial officials to other works due to lack of industries in the districts,” he added. The FAPI president said that the government had to pay arrears worth Rs 500 crore to industries on account of subsidies such as investment, power, sales tax and interest.

He said that nearly 39 paper recycle industries faced so many problems due to shortage of raw material. He mentioned that the industry sector would collapse if the State government hiked the power tariff. He urged Union and State governments to implement uniform power tariff in the nation to industry sector.

He also said that the State government should hand over the Micro, Small Enterprises Development Corporation (MSEDC) to the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Industries for development of industries in all districts and for providing employment opportunity to unemployed youth.

“The state government has not released sick industry fund to the industries in the State so far and Chandrababu Naidu is making misleading statements over development of industry sector,” he added. He alleged that no industry came to AP through the Partnership Summits and the State government had no policy on the development of industry sector in the state. “Industries needed SCS rather than the Partnership summits in AP,” he said.
