"The Cabinet reshuffle will be held in the first week of April which will give an entry ticket to Lokesh to enter the Cabinet," top sources in the state government told PTI.

With this elevation, the Telugu Desam Party General Secretary Lokesh will be joining the league of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Telangana minister K T Rama Rao and DMK's MK Stalin, who are all sons of prominent politicians.

"Lokesh may be given a portfolio which will make him work closely with people and on ground to prove his mettle," said the source.

"Industries, Panchayat Raj or municipal administration are some of the portfolios that have been shortlisted," the source added.

The scheduled reshuffle will also see some entrances and exits based on caste equations and regional balances, according to the source, as the party leadership is not satisfied with some ministers.

"The party is in advance taking necessary steps for having a strong Cabinet and delivering the output as desired by the leadership. The reshuffle is also done foreseeing good performance in elections in 2019," the source said.

The 34-year-old business graduate from Standford University was elected as member of legislative council early this month. He has been credited with authoring 'cash transfer scheme' in 2009 in the party's election manifesto.

In 2014, Lokesh was instrumental in setting up of welfare fund for his party cadres and conducting online membership drive.
