YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy who was protesting demanding action against TDP leaders Vijayawada M P Kesineni Srinivas, MLC Buddha Venkanna and Vijayawada Central MLA Bond Uma Maheswara Rao was arrested by the police at Andhra Pradesh’s Assembly in Velagapudi on Monday. 

​Amaravati: YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy who was protesting demanding action against TDP leaders Vijayawada M P Kesineni Srinivas, MLC Buddha Venkanna and Vijayawada Central MLA Bond Uma Maheswara Rao was arrested by the police at Andhra Pradesh’s Assembly in Velagapudi on Monday.

Police shifted the Chandragiri MLA Bhaskar Reddy to Mangalagiri police station in Guntur district on Monday. The sudden protest of the Opposition MLA at Assembly premises just before beginning of Assembly proceedings sent security personnel into a tizzy. However, security and police personnel acted swiftly but the MLA continued his protest for around an hour.

Chevireddy came to Assembly wearing black dress on Monday morning and started protest at fourth gate of Assembly building demanding action against TDP leaders for their unruly behaviour with state Transport Commissioner N Balasubramanyam.

Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy displayed placard written “meeko nyayam – maako nyayama” and raised slogans against the state government. He alleged police booked a false case against him and his party MP P Mithun Reddy and arrested at Tirupati airport alleging that they rebuked airport staff.

YSRCP MLAs R K Roja, P Ravindranadh Reddy, Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao (Nani), Gopireddy Srinivas Reddy and others joined protest in support of Bhaskar Reddy.The Assembly security rushed to the place and tried to remove the MLA from the place but in vain. After some time marshals forcefully took the MLA outside the Assembly premises.

But the MLA continued his protest in front of Assembly fourth gate sitting on floor. The police officers tried to pacify the protesting MLAs but in vain. As the MLA persisted on his demand, the police forcibly shifted him into police van.

With the MLA came out from the van and tried to continue his protest, he was shifted to Mangalgiri police station. YSRC MLA G Srikanth Reddy and other MLAs raised slogans against the state government in protesting the arrest of their party MLA. ­
