Founder secretary of Ghantasala Sports and Cultural Association Chenna Tirumala Rao in a representation to HRD Minister

Visakhapatnam: Founder secretary of Ghantasala Sports and Cultural Association Chenna Tirumala Rao in a representation to HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao here on Thursday appealed to reduce the rentals of the Vuda Children’s Arena to facilitate cultural organisations to conduct more events.

Tirumala Rao, who met the Minister, explained the problems being faced by the local artistes due to lack of affordable meeting halls to conduct the events and added that it was not proper to fix Rs 32,000 as rent for the lower theatre and Rs 52,000 for the upper hall at the Vuda Children’s Arena.

Referring to the promises made by the state government to make Vizag as cultural hub, he pleaded with the Minister to direct the Vuda officials to desist from doing business by letting out the arena to poor artistes. The Minister assured that he would talk to the officials.

Later, Tirumala Rao alleged that the Vuda officials are trying to exploit the poor artistes by collecting abnormal rentals instead of encouraging them. Pointing out that those who conduct programmes with free entry would only suffer from high rentals, he urged the government to keep the Vuda Children’s Arena within the reach of the poor artistes.
