Visakhapatnam: Rajaka community people of Vamsinagar near Madhavadhara in 39th ward staged a protest with placards on Thursday demanding municipal officials protect the 50 ft major gedda passing through the area from illegal encroachment.
The residents alleged that some middlemen in the name of an association were constructing a temple after encroaching the gedda by demolishing Dobhikhanas , shelters and water tanks there.
With the illegal encroachment, the Rajakas have lost livelihood and more over, with the encroachment of the gedda, the low-lying areas are being inundated in the rainy season. The protestors demanded that the municipal authorities initiate action against the illegal encroachment.
