Eluru: West Godavari District Collectorate complex is soon going to be a free wifi zone for mobile phone users who visits the office for various works. It is a part and parcel of the fibre grid project that is aimed to provide three-in-one connections of TV, Telephone and Internet to every household in the district. The district officials are expected to give household cable connection for Rs.149 per month under the fibre grid project by next June.

The District Collector K Bhaskar while reviewing the fibre grid project at a meeting held in Collectorate on Friday said that six routers will be arranged in the Collectorate to give free access to the visitors.Explaining about the projects of the Fibre grid, the Collector said that in the first phase the linkage of fibre grid will be taken up in all the 12,361 government offices.

About 6,274 offices will get the fibernet connection for Rs.149 and 5,628 offices will get for Rs.299, 206 Government offices get the Rs. 1,499 package, 253 government offices will get the Rs 2,499 for the fibre grid linkup programme. By June this year, all households will get the fibre net connection, he added.

He said that the MSOs and small scale businessmen will get financial assistance to give fiber net connection in the district. The financial assistance up to Rs.100 Crores on cheaper interest rates will be sanctioned, he added. He asked the MSOs and cable operators to utilise the loan amount for their development.

He said that to redress the small problems in field level, Municipal Commissioner will conduct review meeting in municipalities and get the cable net to the household in a speedy way.
