Turncoats, old-timers to get fair share in Cabinet rejig
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to strike a balance between the defectors and old-timers in reshuffling of his 21-member Cabinet which expected to take place on April 2. According to party sources, Naidu has advanced the rejig which was originally scheduled on April 6.
Grapevine has it that five members each from the defectors and old-timers group may find berth in the Cabinet. The reshuffle will of course not pass off without Lokesh’ trademark. It is believed that Naidu will take into consideration factors such as loyalty and delivering a deadly blow on the rival camp while recomposing his council of ministers.
An aspirant said, “That is why our leader chose to dole out berths to old-timers and defectors in equal numbers”.
In Kadapa, Devagudi Adinarayana Reddy representing Jammalamadugu may be elevated to counter Jagan’s dominance in the local politics by putting to practice the adage – ‘
a tooth for a tooth and an eye for an eye’. Akhila Priya from Allagadda, another defector, is set to step into the Cabinet as the “Bhuma factor’ may work in her favour. The CM is believed to have decided to send out a message across the YSRC rival camp and the Reddy community associated with it that he is always a safe bet for them in Rayalaseema region.
In Vizianagaram district, Sujaykrishna Ranga Rao is likely to be tipped for the minister’s post by opting Kimid Mrunalini out of the Cabinet. The change is intended to accommodate her close relative and party AP unit president K Kala Venkata Rao from the neighbouring Srikakulam district. Although Labour Minister Achchennaidu and Venkata Rao are not in sync with each other within the party, Chandrababu seems intending to entertain both in his ministry.
Jyothula Nehru, YSRC defector and vocal Kapu leader from Jaggampet in East Godavari district, may get a plum post as part of the Naidu’s plans to groom a powerful Kapu leader to take on former minister Mudragada Padmanabham who is putting the TDP government in a fix over Kapu quota.
In Chittoor, Naidu’s home turf, YSRC defector Amarnadha Reddy may be inducted as a youth leader. In that case, Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy, Forest Minister, may lose his job on health grounds. The party’s probable old-timers likely get berth include Payyavula Kesav in Ananthapur district, Beeda Rachindra Yadav in Nellore, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary in East Godavari district and of course CM’s son Nara Lokesh.
Besides, Lokesh’s loyalist Dokka Manikya Varaprasada, who defected from the Congress before the 2014 elections, is said to be having bright chances to step into the shoes of Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu in Guntur district.
