Anantapur: Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU), Academic Senate Committee (ASC) meeting held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof K Rajagopal has ratified the several decisions already taken by the SKU executive council. SKU Registrar K Sudhakar introduced the annual report and the new financial year's budget proposals apart from the newly proposed security management course and other decisions, which were formally approved by the ASC.

The ASC gave its approval for the eligible candidates who applied for joining research under the industrial-cum-executive quota. Also clearance was given for commencement of security management course from the new academic year 2017-18 in the university under an MOU entered between SKU and GMR's Raksha Academy for training best security personnel and introducing latest state-of-the art security techniques. Addressing the members, vice-chancellor Prof K Rajagopal said that in the new academic year, the Academic Senate Committee would meet twice in a year for being proactive in the development of the university.

The funds made available to the tune of Rs 57.7 crore by the UGC and another Rs 20 crore general funds would be spent on undertaking several developmental activities including repairs to auditorium, stadium, indoor stadium and convention hall and examination buildings apart from construction of compound walls to the buildings. Executive council members Ramaiah Vijay rao, Jyothirmai, E Prabhakar and Madhukota Babu, principal Rangaswamy and ASC members Krishna Naik, Inak and P V Ramana Reddy were present.
