Speculation rife on probables
With the cabinet reshuffle expected by the weekend, two names- Jaggampeta MLA Jyotula Venkata Appa Rao alias Nehru and Pithapuram MLA, S. V. S. N. Varma- have been doing the rounds in TDP circles of East Godavari.
Kakinada: With the cabinet reshuffle expected by the weekend, two names- Jaggampeta MLA Jyotula Venkata Appa Rao alias Nehru and Pithapuram MLA, S. V. S. N. Varma- have been doing the rounds in TDP circles of East Godavari.
Of the two, Nehru who got elected from Jaggampeta in 2014 on behalf of YSRC defected to TDP recently and is known as key leader from upland areas in the district. As far as Varma is concerned he was elected as independent in 2014 polls and later joined back his parent organisation, the TDP.
Nehru represented the same constituency during 1999- 2004 and joined PRP after his defeat in 2004. Later he joined YSRC [after Chiranjeevi merged PRP into Congress] and was elected as YSRC candidate in 2014. He joined TDP subsequently in which he served as district unit president earlier for two terms. The party circles admit that Nehru might get a chance as he hails from numerically strong Kapu community and expected to neutralise the ‘Mudragada factor ‘in the district.
Varma, on his part, is expected to get a chance as he is a staunch loyalist of TD leadership and close follower of AP finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. The other factor in his favour is he was instrumental in getting both Nehru and his co brother Varupula Subba Rao representing Prathipadu Assembly segment also in upland area back to TDP fold .
The other key factor said to be in his favour is there is no representation to Kshatriya community in state cabinet so far and this will be a plus point in favour of Varma. TDP official spokes person Ganni Krishna observed that in any cabinet formation caste equations are important and the party leadership may continue the tradition, he said.
