Vijayawada: The VMC School in the city will start remedial classes to enhance the learning skills of the students from April 3. The state government is keen to enhance the learning skills of the students studying in the corporation and government schools on par with the students of private schools.

In this backdrop, the government has changed the school holidays pattern and completed the exams of Class I to IX by the end of March and decided to run the schools to conduct remedial classes.

Slow learners get a chance to hone their skills in learning subjects like Maths and Science. A special pattern has been made for this. More than 15,000 students are expected to attend the special classes.

The new pattern of education will be as per the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), said Vijayawada Municipal Corporation deputy educational officer Durga Prasad. The annual exams were completed and schools will be reopened on April 3 and will function till April 22.

The classes will be conducted from 8 am to 12 pm. He said that remedial classes would be conducted before actually taking up the subjects of the next class. The slow learners in the class would be given more importance in the remedial classes.

The teachers would put efforts to bring the level three students to level two in the remedial classes before actually starting the next class subjects, he added. The attendance is very important for the students, he pointed out.

He said that Anganwadi workers are trained by Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) and would be deputed to take care of the kindergarten students. The government is planning to introduce LKG and UKG classes in the VMC schools, he added. The Anganwadi workers are trained to handle the kids.

He further stated that VMC Commissioner G Veerapandian and Mayor Koneru Sridhar are keen on enquiring the progress of the students studying in the VMC Schools. He further stated that the VMC is ready to provide facilities to the students studying in municipal schools on par with private schools.
