New Delhi: Congress MP Dr KVP Ramachandra Rao demanded here on Friday that the Centre should help AP overcome the revenue deficit as per AP Reorganisation Act.

Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, he said that the resource gap stood at Rs 16,078 crore while the Centre had only released Rs 3,980 crore so far and ignored releasing the other installments as promised in the AP Reorganisation Act.

He alleged that the State government was harassing various sections of the society ignoring their pleas due to the financial crunch. It could not even fulfil the promise of waiving loans of farmers, he said.

He further alleged that the State government was wasting its revenue on luxuries and unnecessary spending leading to large-scale migration of people from Rayalaseema unable to face drought and poverty.
