Fans, TV sets in bus station non-functional

As a part of creating pleasant atmosphere and entertainment, the RTC has fixed over 125 new fans and 35 television sets to cover the entire bus station consisting of 36 platforms. In the ensuing harsh summer, passengers made several appeals to the controlling authorities of the bus station to switch on the fans at least by daytime to overcome the sweat threat and mosquito bites.

Asked to comment over the non-functioning of televisions in the bus station, Deputy Chief Traffic Manager Krishna Rao told The Hans India that operation of the televisions at Chittoor and Kuppam bus stations was given to a contractor, who was absconding since several weeks.
He said that due action would be taken against the defaulter and a new one would be appointed shortly for making use of the televisions in the bus station. With regarding the non- functioning of fans, he made it clear that there was no restriction in this regard assuring that he would take appropriate steps in operating the fans as per the need of the passengers.
He further said that the existing police out-post of the bus station was relocated by the police officials due to their own reasons some 11 months ago. He said that he had already made an appeal to the District Superintendent of Police for setting up the police outpost at Chittoor RTC bus station as soon as possible.
He felt there was dire need of police security at the bus station. He also said that the RTC was contemplating to improve the greenery in the bus stations in a big way.
