Amaravati: Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu for giving him an opportunity to serve as MLC at a very young age, Nara Lokesh in his maiden speech praised the Elders’ House as the most dignified and well disciplined House.

He made his maiden speech after the election of Reddy Subrahmanyam as Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council. Lokesh, who was elected as MLC under MLA quota, took oath on Thursday. And he got an opportunity to address the house on the very next day where he successfully utilised the opportunity by drawing comparison between the Legislative Assembly and Council.

“Though I have never watched before both the houses in person but observed the sessions through TV channels. I appreciate the members of Elders’ House for maintaining decorum and dignity which I could not saw in the other House,” he said.

While lauding the services made by Reddy Subrahmanyam as TDP state general secretary, he expressed confidence that he would be able to discharge his duties effectively as Deputy Chairman. He however said that the party would find it difficult to find a replacement for the general secretary’s post.

Stating that now he has five years experience in active politics, Lokesh thanked Chandrababu Naidu for selecting him for the Legislative Council. His first speech was well received by the ruling party members, who greeted him by thumping desks.

Earlier, Reddy Subrahmanyam was elected unanimously as Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council. His election was declared by Chairman Dr A Chakrapani. Finance minister and Leader of the House Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, ministers Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Ganta Srinivas, Peethala Sujata and other members also spoke on the occasion.
