Police, public clash on factory premises
A minor altercation took place between police and villagers of Nallavarithota at the Ananda aqua pre-processing unit on Saturday, as the management people went around the effluents’ sump outside the factory.
Eluru: A minor altercation took place between police and villagers of Nallavarithota at the Ananda aqua pre-processing unit on Saturday, as the management people went around the effluents’ sump outside the factory.
According to information, some management people came in the morning to the sump outside the Aqua Factory in Nallavarithota in Mogalturu Mandal in the morning to clear the garbage around it.
The villagers suspected that the management engaged their men to clean the sump in which five workers died of asphyxiation on March 30. The villagers attacked those who were gathering the garbage around the sump.
Knowing about the incident Narsapur DSP G Poornachandra Rao reached the spot and sent the management team from the site and discussed with the villagers. The villagers after hectic efforts were calmed down and returned to their houses.
The DSP has stated that except police force no one is allowed at the factory area. Around 400 police personnel were deployed at the factory to avoid further untoward incidents.
