Nellore: Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said they would be developing 200 playgrounds in the district for encouraging youngsters on sports and games. He inaugurated 774-bedded hospital building; laid foundation for long-pending FM station and indoor stadium on Friday from the Government General Hospital premises.

The Union Minister laid foundation for the indoor stadium to be constructed at Mogallapalem in rural mandal for hosting the National Games in 2019. It would come up in 8 acres at a cost of Rs 150 cr.

He said Rs 4 crore has already been sanctioned for taking up various works such as approach roads, construction of a borewell, bio-fencing and others.

He said people respect the doctors after God and appealed to the medical professionals to be ready for serving the poor and needy who visit the government-run hospitals. Venkaiah said education and medical care turned expensive for common people.

The Union Minister stressed the need for medical staff to maintain punctuality and render honest services to the poor. He assured that a dialysis centre would be set up at Atmakur government headquarters hospital as the Centre decided to provide dialysis centres in rural areas keeping in view the requirement.

Venkaiah Naidu said the upcoming FM station will have 10 KW power and a 50-km coverage at the primary level for entertainment needs of city population. It will be set up at a cost of Rs 10 cr. Local programmes can be transmitted which would generate employment, he said.
