Amaravati: Minister for Endowments P Manikyala Rao on Friday said that the government will develop Srisailam temple on the lines of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam to attract more devotees from various states and added that a master plan was prepared for the development of Srisailam with the approval of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Addressing a question, raised by the MLC Silpa Chankrapani Reddy, in the State Legislative Council during question hour on Friday, the minister said that they will develop Srisailam. He said that they will lay a 4-lane road from Donakonda to Srisailam since the Central government is planning to revive Donakonda airport.

The devotees, who come by flight, will go to Srisailam from Donakonda by road and said the government has a proposal to set up helipad at Srisailam. He said they will construct rooms and shopping malls and widen the existing roads besides developing necessary infrastructure in Srisailam and expecting more devotees to turn up.

If helipad facility is provided, it woulTirumalad be convenient for devotees to visit Srisailam on Saturday and Sundays. Replying to a question, Minister for Education, Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the government has a proposal to set up a university in the backward Prakasam district. He said, during this academic year, we will start admissions in the IIIT in Prakasam district.

We will also try to set up a university in Prakasam district to develop the district. They have proposal to set up Tribal University in Vizianagaram district and said that the government is trying to set up one university in every district to develop all the districts equally.

Later, Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao that the government has sanctioned Rs 25 crore to lay a four-lane road between Ongole and Nandyal and said that the government is giving top priority to develop highways to check road accidents.

Minister for Women and Child Welfare Peethala Sujatha said that TDP is giving top priority for girl child protection and reminded that the government has introduced Mahalakshmi scheme and added that the TDP government was committed for the welfare of women.
