He said that 3,77,325 children in Krishna district will be administered polio drops and urged the parents to take their children below five years to the polio booths set up across the district.The Collector flagged off the pulse polio awareness rally from Sub-Collector office to Tummalapalli Kalakshetram on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said arrangements have been made for pulse polio programme in 2,565 pulse polio booths set up under Vijayawada Municipal Corporation limits, five municipalities and other mandals. He said 1,911 doctors, 3,812 ICDS staff, 2,924 ASHA workers, 2,301 other staff were deployed for the pulse polio programme.
He said that the pulse polio programme will be held from 7 am to 6 pm on Sunday. He further stated that children, who missed polio drops on Sunday, will be identified and polio drops will be administered during the door-to-door campaign on April 3 and 4 and in the city on April 5.
Mayor Koneru Sridhar said that arrangements are made to administer polio dropa for 1,36,904 children below five years in the city. Special centres were set up at important places like railway station, bus station and Kanakadurga temple.
DMHO Y Kameshwara Prasad, VMC chief medical and health officer Dr M Gopinath, senior medical officer Dr Iqbal Hussain, Rotary Club Vijayawada president Dr C Ramachand and others participated in the rally.
