Vijayawada: In a bid to attract more students from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is planning to introduce diploma and certificate courses, which can help students to secure employment, in Telugu medium.
Disclosing this at a press conference here on Saturday, Dr V Venugopal Reddy, director of regional services division, IGNOU said that this was the first time in the country that they preferred to teach and allow students write exam in their mother tongue.
“Though the varsity has three regional centres in two Telugu States out of total 67 in the country, the enrolment was poor,” he informed.
