Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths have booked 63 cases on the government employees, who were involved in corruption. Most of them were caught red handed, while accepting the bribes from the people and others were booked for having properties disproportionate to their assets.

Corruption in the government department is widely prevalent. Unless and until the people come forward to lodge complaint, we can’t take action on the employees of our own, said the ACB officials.It may be noted that corruption is rampant in the departments of revenue, police, health, panchayat raj, energy and others.

A large number of people are suffering due to the menace of corruption in the society, an official lamented.ACB officials were as shocked as common people on finding assets worth hundreds of crores amassed by corrupt officials. The Krishna district ACB officials have booked 63 cases from 2014 to 2017 March.
The officials have collected Rs.11 lakh, the bribe, collected by the government staff from the victims for doing their duty. The remaining Rs19.39 crore was seized from the corrupt in connection with properties disproportionate to their income. However, the market value of these properties will be nearly Rs 200 crore.
The properties will be attached to the treasury department through the court.ACB DSP V Gopala Krishna told The Hans India that the department is looking forward for people to lodge complaint on corrupt officials.He said 15 cases were booked in 2014, 27 cases were booked in 2015, 17 cases were booked in 2016 and four cases were booked till March 2017.
He said the officials were able to catch corrupt red handed while accepting the bribe was due to information furnished by the victims.He said the ACB needs the support from the people to book cases and take action on the corrupt officials. He said the ACB officials are actively working and keeping vigil under the supervision of the ACB director general R P Thakur.
