District Judge P Venkata Jyothirmaye laid the stone for the proposed six-storeyed multi-court complex on the district court premises on Sunday after performing bhoomi puja where the dilapidated structures of the Criminal Court Complex were demolished in 2005.

Visakhapatnam: District Judge P Venkata Jyothirmaye laid the stone for the proposed six-storeyed multi-court complex on the district court premises on Sunday after performing bhoomi puja where the dilapidated structures of the Criminal Court Complex were demolished in 2005.

With this, the long pending demand of both advocates and the litigants, was fulfilled and the leaders of Visakhapatnam Bar Association had played a key role in protecting the vacant site since 2005. After the stone laying ceremony, heads of various religions offered special prayers.

The District Judge disclosed that the construction of the mega complex would be built in a planned manner keeping future needs. Contractor Mohan Reddy, who also earlier performed special puja on the occasion, informed that the project cost is Rs 30 crore.

Of the total six floors, the plinth area of the four floors would be around 1.39 lakh square feet leaving the two floors for parking lots. President of Visakhapatnam Bar Association N V Suman said after completing the total structure there is a plan to go for another two floors in future.

A committee to be headed by District Judge would be formed soon to monitor the construction work.About the High Court Bench for Vizag, Suman said they have brought the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister many a time. Chief engineer of Road and Buildings K V Ramana Reddy will supervise the work, he added.

Matropolitan Sessions Judge U Satya Rao, former presidents of Visakhapatnam Bar Association M K Sitaramaiah and Kandala Srinivasa Rao, senior advocates K S Suresh Kumar, P Balakrishna, Bandaru Ramakrishna, M S Madhav, D Umarani, K Jagadeesh, Sai, Swami and President of Non-Judicial Employees’ Union K T N Prabhu were present.
