ITDA to boost cashew nut sales in Agency

He inaugurated a cashew nut purchasing centre set up by FPO under the aegis of Velugu in Chuppara Palem in Rampa Chodavaram mandal on Monday.Speaking on the occasion, Dinesh Kumar said that ITDA is formulating an action plan to provide all facilities for farmers if they formed as Farmer Producers Organisations.
He suggested the farmers to sell cashew nuts for a profitable price at purchasing centres set up Olam Company. Stating that the present price of cashew nut is Rs 135 per kilogram, he informed that loan of Rs 10,000 will be sanctioned from either Sthree Nidhi or ITDA for 5,000 acres per annum to prevent farmers from taking loans from middlemen and added that loans will be sanctioned for all the cultivated area in a phased manner.
He called upon tribal farmers to avoid taking advances and loans from third parties and obtain income according to investment. He maintained that crop loans will be sanctioned for other agriculture affiliated sectors with the coordination of bankers.
He further said that the government is extending support to improve health conditions by restoring cultivation of millets and added that the steps will be taken to encourage millet cultivation through subsidies in order to supply millets to tribal hostels by purchasing through GCC.
