TDP leaders restive ,Gorantla’s omission for ministership
Irked by the chief minister for not giving ministerial berth to Rajamahendravaram rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, TDP cadres chose to go on a war path. It may be recalled that Chowdary expressed dissatisfaction in public for not getting a slot in the cabinet extension by tendering his resignation for TDP general secretary post on Sunday.
Rajamahendravaram: Irked by the chief minister for not giving ministerial berth to Rajamahendravaram rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, TDP cadres chose to go on a war path. It may be recalled that Chowdary expressed dissatisfaction in public for not getting a slot in the cabinet extension by tendering his resignation for TDP general secretary post on Sunday.
TDP corporators have expressed their discontent by boycotting the 2017-18 annual budget meeting of the municipal corporation of Rajamahendravaram on Monday. TDP corporators led by Deputy Mayor Vasireddi Rambabu and floor leader Varre Srinivasa Rao met in the party office in the morning and decided to boycott the council meeting for not giving inisterial berth to Gorantla.
They have alleged that Gorantla who strived hard to strengthen the party in the district was humiliated and opined that the decision not to include him in the ministry is unilateral. Gorantla came to the party office and tried to convince corporators to attend the council meeting and suggested them to take part in the meeting as budget meeting is already delayed
Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai entered the council meeting hall at 10.40 am, only YSRCP, BJP and independent corporators were there in the hall. The Mayor who found that there was no quorum postponed the meeting for one hour. Ex-officio member Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary who came to the council meeting after Mayor postponed the meeting left the council hall after coming to know that the meeting was postponed.
The Mayor returned to the council hall at 11.40 and found only YSRCP, BJP and BSP corporators along with ex-officio member MLA Dr Akula Satyanarayana and MLC Adireddi Appa Rao. Hence, the Mayor has announced postponement of the council meeting due to lack of quorum and mentioned that the next date will be announced later. YSR Congress Party corporators staged protest by placing flowers in their ears.
Meanwhile, TDP corporators who met in the party office have warned that that they will resign their posts if Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary was not given a significant post. Later, Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai and other leaders came to party office and met Gorantla.
