Hyderabad: The YSR Congress Party on Monday demanded that Governor ESL Narasimhan should remove four ministers inducted into Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet as they are liable for punishment under Anti- Defection Law for shifting loyalties to the ruling TDP from the main opposition party.

A YSRCP delegation led by party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan here and submitted a memorandum.

The delegation requested Narasimhan to take corrective action against Akhilapriya, N Amarnath Reddy, C Adinarayana Reddy, and Ravu Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao who were elected on YSR Congress party ticket and were sworn in as ministers in the state Cabinet. These ministers along with 17 other members of the Assembly defected from the YSR Congress a year ago to TDP.

Jagan said his party already submitted a petition to Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao seeking disqualification of the four members under the 10th Schedule of the Constitution. But the Speaker did not take action so far.

Their induction into the Cabinet was an act of mockery of democracy and the Indian Constitution, he said and also brought to the notice of the Governor that all the turncoats were shown in the total 66 members list of the YSR Congress in the Assembly. The same was also published in the official website of AP Legislature updated on March 31 this year.

The YSR Congress leader said if action was not taken against the defectors it would set a bad precedent in the annals of Indian democracy and Constitution and pose a grave threat to the democracy in the country. He wanted the turncoats to be removed from the Cabinet and they should also quit their MLA posts.
