Gaiety, fervour mark Sri Rama Navami
Srirama Navami was celebrated with fervour across the East Godavari district on Wednesday. Main festivities took place in 130-year-old Sri Kodanda Ramaswamy temple in Gollalamamidada, Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy temple in Annavaram and Satyawada in K Gangavaram mandal.
Rajamahendravaram: Srirama Navami was celebrated with fervour across the East Godavari district on Wednesday. Main festivities took place in 130-year-old Sri Kodanda Ramaswamy temple in Gollalamamidada, Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy temple in Annavaram and Satyawada in K Gangavaram mandal.
Celestial wedding was performed in all the above three places.Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishunudu took part in Rama Navami celebrations held at his native AV Nagaram village in Thondangi mandal. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the people to emulate the ideals propagated by Lord Sri Rama to safeguard human values.
He mentioned that the state government is conducting Sitarama Kalyanam at Vontimitta temple. He conducted special prayers along with his family on the occasion.Eluru DIG P Ramakrishna along with his wife took part in the festivities at Sri Seetarama temple in police quarters.
Urban SP B. Rajakumari, Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary and others were also present.In Rajamahendravaram, Seethampeta Rama temple saw huge footfalls with sub-collector Vijaya Krishnan attending the event. Sitarama Kalyanam was also performed at the 600-year-old Ramalayam at Sriramagiri Kshetram on the banks of the Sabari in Vara Ramachandrapuram.
Tribal people from VR Puram, Koonavaram, Velerupadu, Chinturu and Kukkunuru thronged the temple to witness the celestial wedding.
