Vijayawada: The collective efforts of Central and state governments and district administration to promote cashless transactions evoking positive response from the denizens of the city and other parts of Krishna district. Consumers, who made cashless transactions, are receiving prizes since mega campaign was launched in December 2016 and January 2017. The winners received Rs 2.18 crore cash prizes under the Lucky Grahak Yojana and Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana.

A total of 15,844 beneficiaries received the cash prizes till March 4, 2017 which were introduced by the Central government. Beneficiaries were selected through an online lottery system and the incentives are directly credited to their bank accounts. Winners were selected for making transaction through RuPay Cards, Aadhaar enabled Payment System (AEPS), PoS devices, UPI, USSD.

Krishna district is implementing various cashless initiatives like the Aadhaar enabled public distribution system, NTR Bharosa Pensions and NREGS wages disbursement through the cashless methods of Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) which allows real time digital transactions for beneficiaries.

Krishna district is also first district to introduce Aadhaar Pay for merchants to facilitate cashless transactions. Therefore it is worth mentioning that majority of the 15,844 winners are beneficiaries of PDS, pensions and NREGS. Recently, two women namely Bodani Ramanamma of Vijayawada won Rs 1 lakh for buying her monthly ration at a fair price shop for Rs 64 through cashless means and Kancharla Pullamma of Thallur village, Vatsavai mandal won Rs 1 lakh from withdrawing her widow pension of Rs 1000 through an Off US transaction under AEPS.

Krishna District Collector Babu A said on Tuesday 14,527 beneficiaries have received an amount of Rs 1000 each followed by 979 beneficiaries of Rs 5,000 each.He informed that a total 298 beneficiaries got Rs 2,500 each, 27 beneficiaries got Rs 5,000 each, 11 received Rs 10,000 each and two lucky winners got Rs 1 lakh rupees each in Krishna district. Likewise, 8,850 winners won prize amounts for making digital transactions through Rupay cards followed by 6,289 for Aadhaar enabled payments system.

In all, 427 people have won for merchant transactions through PoS devices and 272 customers through UPI payments and six for National Unified USSD Platforms.Intense campaign was launched by the State and Central governments, the denizens of the city and other parts of district are gradually switching over to the cashless transactions in their day-to-day activities.
