Visakhapatnam: Setting aside severe criticism that a Telugu Desam Party national general secretary Nara Lokesh was a political novice and Chandrababau Naidu erred in his decision, the Roads and Buildings Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu exuded confidence that Lokesh will excel in his new role as IT and Panchayatraj Minister and stun his critics.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, after arriving here from Amaravati, Patrudu said he was a novice when he was elected as an MLA at the age of 25.“It was the late N T Rama Rao, who had made me both an MLA and later a Minister. Till now I was made minister five times,” Patrudu said.

In a similar manner, Lokesh will function as a Minister and later grow in his role. He is young and dynamic and his performance as the party secretary is commendable.On the simmering frustration among the MLAs who were not taken into the Cabinet, Patrudu said the Cabinet reshuffle was done in the party’s interest and keeping in view of the caste equations and regional balances. He also said that not everybody can be accommodated in the Cabinet due to various compulsions.

On the new role he is donning, the Minister said he is hopeful of providing better road connectivity in the state and discharging his duties as Roads and Buildings Minister effectively as Union Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had promised to spending Rs 93,000 crore for roads.

He added that he will be holding a meeting with all the R & B senior officials on April 6 to set an agenda for the partments.The Minister recalled achieving success and standing top among 29 states in the country in various panchayat raj works by building Anganwadi centres, toilets, office buildings for gram panchayats and hoped that the new Minister Lokesh will continue the good work done by him during the last three years.
