Vijayawada: Sri Sita Rama Kalyanotsavam was celebrated with gaiety and religious fervour across the city on Wednesday. Thousands of devotees enthusiastically participated in the celestial weddings. The biggest celebrations were held at Kodanda Ramalayam temple at Besant Road.

Sri Sita Rama Kalyanal Mahotsava Abhivrudhi Committee (SSRKMAC) conducted the annual event with nearly six kgs of ‘mutyala talambralu’. The deity of Lord Rama and Sita were colourfully decorated for the celestial wedding. More than 3000 devotees of Lord Sri Rama attended the event and the organisers colourfully decorated the pandal erected to mark the occasion.

Sri Sita Rama Kalyanal Mahotsava Abhivrudhi Committee secretary B Srinivasa Rao said that members offered jaggery drink (panakam) and vadapappu (soaked green gram) to the devotees on the occasion at Beasant Road. He said anna prasadam will be offered for nine days from Thursday onwards. Meher Baba Cloth Showroom owner Anjaneyullu secured 65 kg laddu in an auction, he added.

South Zone ACP K Srinivasa Rao and other police personnel, political leaders and a large number of devotees offered prayers on the occasion. Similarly, thousands of devotees attended the celestial weddings in different parts of the city particularly in Kotha Peta, Maruthi Nagar, Poornanandam Pet, Satyanarayanapuram, Labbipet, Krishna Lanka and other parts of the city.
