Only 10 per cent of the cases were coming to the records due to social stigma or family prestige”, said the III Additional District Judge CN Narasimha Raju. Whenever a person comes with a complaint, police should first accept it and register the same which can create confidence in them.

He addressed the police personnel in the two day workshop on ‘Approaches to protecting Women and Children – Capacity building & Reflection” organised by Tirupati Urban Police in association with UNICEF in Tirupati on Thursday.Tirupati Urban SP R Jayalakshmi said that, the runaway children are more in Tirupati as it is a pilgrim centre and their task is how to prevent it?

She said that they have opened Women-Children Rakshak Unit with a view to protect them. They can inform Police Whatsapp number (8099999777 or 100) and police will immediately respond.” the SP said. Efforts are on to get the toll free number also for the purpose.
