Counselling for eve-teasers in vijayawada
Deputy Commissioner of Police G Pala Raju said that Mahila Rakshak teams arrested 10 eve-teasers here on Saturday. Vijayawada: Deputy Commissioner of Police G Pala Raju said that Mahila Rakshak teams arrested 10 eve-teasers here on Saturday. Apart from that 262 eve-teasers, including minors, students and others, were arrested from January 27 till date.
Addressing the media persons at the Commissioner of Police Office here on Saturday, he said that Mahila Rakshak teams arrested 42 minors, 111 students, 23 private employees and 128 daily wage workers at different places in the city when they were teasing women and girls.
“Former MP Chennupati Vidya and Vasavya Mahila Mandali members Suhasini, Devi, V Satyavati and K Vijaya conducted counselling to the eve teasers,” he added.He said that Mahila Rakshak teams arrested eve teasers at Kondapalli Khilla, Raghavaiah Park, Ajit Singh Nagar Park, Kaleswara Rao Market area, Gandhiji Women`s College, KBN College, Apsara Theatre, Pandit Nehru Bus Station, Rajiv Gandhi Park and other areas in the city.
He reminded that where more than 10 women were working in colleges, institutes, hotels, restaurants and other organisations, they should appoint an Internal Complaint Committee as per Sexual Harassment in Working Place Act-2013.“The police department created awareness among students in 100 colleges and schools, including institutes, on Internal Complaint Committee,” he added.
