Vijayawada: Agriculture department additional director VV Vijayalakshmi said that action plan for kharif for the year 2017-18 will be prepared based on village-level action plans. She further stated that the state government is aiming at double digit growth in the farm sector.

Vijayawada revenue division-level kharif action plan meeting was organised by the Krishna District Agriculture Department on the Krishna District Animal Husbandry Department office premises at Muthyalampadu in the city on Saturday. Earlier, additional director Vijayalakshmi inaugurated the agro exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijayalakshmi said that village-level officers will meet farmers in the field level and prepare action plans. Departmental officers should identify the problems which are being faced by the farmers and resolve them, she added.

She further stated that village level kharif action plans would be helpful for farmers to overcome their problems. The state government is taking necessary measures for the supply of quality seeds, fertilisers and equipment on subsidy to the farmers, she claimed.

From this kharif season, seeds and fertilisers would be supplied with Aadhaar enabled system, she announced.
Agriculture department joint director V Narasimha Rao, deputy director Balu Naidu, Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) project director Prasad and others participated in the meeting.
