Well-known film maker Ashok Kaul conducted a workshop on film making on the second day of the National Children’s Film Festival here on Saturday. Children from various schools of the city, including Zilla Parishad High School, R Tallavalassa, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sri Sharada Vidya Nilayam, participated in the workshop.

Visakhapatnam: Well-known film maker Ashok Kaul conducted a workshop on film making on the second day of the National Children’s Film Festival here on Saturday. Children from various schools of the city, including Zilla Parishad High School, R Tallavalassa, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sri Sharada Vidya Nilayam, participated in the workshop.

Ashok Kaul explained them the nuances of film making and narrated the entire process of film making. In the workshop, there were three groups made and each group developed individual and original script with lyrics for a three-minute film.


Kaul said, “Every child has his own creative faculties and we need to identify them. There’s a film-maker hidden in every child and it is up to us to find that and help them grow,’’ Kaul said. Visual medium is the most powerful form of expression and today’s children have a huge potential to become film makers and explore this medium to express their thoughts and creativity, he added.

“Short films have a huge potential to impact thinking and behaviour. We must explore the creativity of children towards this and used their creativity to bring about a positive change in the society,” added Ashok Kaul.

Children learned at the workshop the potential of the key constituents of the film-making such as director, actor, cameraman at this workshop organised at VUDA Children’s Arena as a part of the National Children’s Film Festival. There will be a workshop on animation by Dhvani Desai at VUDA Children's Arena on Sunday from 10 am onwards.
