Vijayawada: P Bhagat assumed charge as state president of Nation Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in the presence of AICC General Secretary Digvijaya Singh. Later, Digvijaya Singh inaugurated NSUI state office at Andhra Ratna Bhavan to mark the 47th Formation Day of the union here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, State Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy suggested that NSUI Committee to formulate programmes to create awareness among the youth over the importance of Special Category Status (SCS).
He said Congress party has been fighting at national-level to realise dream of people as Special Category Status is a major solution to problems being faced by the state in the backdrop of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

He alleged that Chief Minister N Chadrababu Naidu did not fulfil poll promises on providing jobs and unemployment allowance to youth. “Youth are asking for jobs as per assurance given by the Telugu Desam Party, but the state government was keeping mum,” he lamented. NSUI state president Bhagat appealed the students to understand the significance of Special Category Status and come forward to fight for it.

AICC secretary Khuntia, senior Congress leaders Killi Krupa Rani, Koppula Raju, Sake Sailajanath, Kondru Murali, Nadendla Manohar, G Rudra Raju, Malladi Vishnu, Janga Goutham and others participated.
