​Visakhapatnam: The flying destroyer TU 142M, the most coveted aircraft of the cold war era and the long range maritime patrol aircraft of the Indian Navy made its last landing at the Indian Navy Station Dega, here on Saturday morning.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu welcomed the giant bird at a special ceremony in the presence of Union Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, MPs K Haribabu and M Srinivas and state ministers, MLAs and Flag Officer, commanding-in-chief , Eastern Naval Command vice admiral HCS Bisht.

On arrival of the aircraft, the Chief Minister interacted with the crew members and exchanged mementos. Vice Admiral Bisht said that transfer of aircraft to the state government is in the process. “It will become most beautiful museum in the world,” the vice admiral said.

Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority would be coordinating all activities related to aircraft museum and the aircraft will be dismantled and transported by road on trailers and re-assembled on the Beach Road near Kursura Submarine Museum.
