He mentioned that the chief minister has responded positively when the dilapidated state of this historical library was brought to his notice.

He explained that the reconstruction of the building will be taken up with Rs two crore under Special Development Fund which is being given to MLAs and Rs 75 Lakh from constituency development funds from MP M Muralimohan. He added that another Rs 1.50 crore will be required for the building and the construction will be completed by December, 2018.


Stating that Gowthami Library is one of the rarest libraries in the state, he made it clear that he will make efforts to preserve its history and culture. He further said that the steps will be also taken to display every book in a scientific manner to facilitate the readers. Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Dr Akula said steps will be taken to take teams of officials to 88 slums in the city in which 38 thousand families are living in order to take stock of welfare schemes being implemented by the central and state governments.

He mentioned that the steps will be taken to deposit Rs Two lakh into the bank accounts of poor and middle class people who have 70 yards of land in order to make their own house dream as reality. Stating that 4,200 double-bed rooms have been sanctioned to Rajamahendravaram, he said that he has urged the government to complete housing by 2019 after selecting suitable land.

Speaking further, Dr Akula expressed anguish over the developments that took place in the budget meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Rajamahendravaram on Friday and he made it clear that rulers should not take unilateral decisions in democracy. He explained that he had to walk out of the council meeting due to the attitude of rulers. He made it clear that there is no place for egos for the people in the public life.
