The event is jointly being organized by Andhra Pradesh Residential Educational Institutions Society (APREIS ) and Social Welfare department.

Visakhapatnam: The city is all set to create Guinness World record on Tuesday when 7,000 girl students perform Kuchpudi at RK Beach, the event which will be inaugurated and witnessed by Chief Minister and State ministers. The event is jointly being organized by Andhra Pradesh Residential Educational Institutions Society (APREIS ) and Social Welfare department.

Coordinator of organizing committee S Roopavathi said the event was being organised to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkhar. APREIS and Social Welfare department is organizing the event with 7,000 girl students from 21 Mahila Gurukula Patashalas from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.

``We had provided accommodation in our schools at various places in the city and APSRTC had provided eight buses for transportation of the girls from the schools to the venue at the beach road. We are also providing food to the participant,’’ she said.Roopavathi said all the students, who are participating in the event were trained in Kuchipudi for the last two months by professional dancers. The program will start with three songs with a main theme on life story of Dr B R Ambedkar, she added.

Organising secretary Col V Ramulu refuted allegations that the students were asked to pay for the event. “No money was collected from students for costumes and make up,’’ he said and added that the State government has provided Rs 4 lakhs for each school apart from providing dresses and make up kits. Each student was given Rs 1000 for the performance, he added.
